McKenzie County Tax Sale: 11 Properties on the Block Tuesday, November 17
The sale, in numbers
The published list carries 11 properties for the November 17 sale. Combined amounts owed come to $45,820. The median parcel sits at $2,780; the list runs from $1,034 up to $14,406. Those figures are the county's published numbers, exactly as released — the starting point for bidding math, never a statement of what a property is worth. On our 100-point screen, 11 of the 11 properties score 70 or higher — the sort order to start from before sale day.
Assessed values are published for 11 of the 11 parcels, and every one of them carries a conservative ceiling estimate in the report: 65% of the published assessed value, labeled Estimate. The median ceiling is $41,392. Where the county publishes no assessed value, the report shows no ceiling — a gap is labeled, never filled.

How this North Dakota sale works
North Dakota eliminated private lien sales in 1999. The county auditor forecloses the tax lien, a tax deed issues to the county, and the county then sells the land at its annual sale — held on the third Tuesday in November at the county auditor's office — at or above a county-set minimum price. There is no interest return, no private foreclosure path, and no redemption after the county's sale.
Before Tuesday: how to work this list
Start from the full list on the McKenzie County page linked below and work it down to a bid list before sale day: screen for the areas and property types you actually buy, verify each finalist against county records, and confirm registration, deposit and payment rules with the county tax sale office well before November 17. The sale is in 13 days; the buyers who win it are the ones who did the sorting in advance, not the ones scrolling on sale day. The score sort is the fastest first pass — 11 properties clear 70 on our screen. Set each finalist's ceiling from the property and the published assessed value where the county provides one — never from the amount owed alone.

Questions
Is the amount owed the price of the property?
No. The published amount is the delinquent taxes, interest and costs owed on the parcel. It is where the bidding math starts — it says nothing about the property's market value.
Can the former owner get the property back after a North Dakota county sale?
There is no redemption after the county's sale. Before the sale, the former owner (or certain family members) may repurchase while the tax title remains in the county.
